The Washington Nationals are a Major League baseball team in Washington, D.C. They play in the Eastern Division of the National League. Their owner is Ted Lerner. Jim Bowden is the general manager and Manny Acta is the manager. The team was first founded in the year 1969. They started playing in Washington, D.C. in 2005. The Nationals played the first three seasons they were in Washington D.C. at RFK Stadium and then moved to the new Nationals Park in 2008. From 1969 to 2004, the team was known as the Montreal Expos.

The official team baseball jersey colors are gold, red, white, and navy blue. The only retired baseball jersey number so far in the franchise’s history is #42. The nickname for the Nationals is the Nats. The Washington Nationals have won one East Division title in the year 1981.
